We study the development of an anomalous even in field transverse voltage, frequently observed at the superconductor to normal state transition. Data collected in both conventional and high temperature superconductors can be consistently explained by the presence of a minor inhomogeneity of the material. A simple model is suggested that interconnects the even transverse voltage with the field and temperature derivatives of longitudinal resistivity. The same effect can also be responsible for the puzzling reversal of Hall effect polarity.
