Short Range Correlations and the EMC Effect
Or Hen
Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv 69978, Israel
The magnitude of the EMC effect measured in electron deep inelastic scattering (DIS) is linearly related to the Short Range Correlation (SRC) scaling factor obtained from electron inclusive scattering. This talk will present the EMC data, explain the SRC data, and present the surprisingly exact linear correlation between the two. We speculate that the observed correlation is because the EMC effect and SRC are both dominated by high momentum nucleons in the nucleus.
I will also show how the linear EMC-SRC correlation is used to constrain the proton d/u distribution at large x.
