The structure and Variability of Stellar Coronae
Raanan Nordon
Tel Aviv University
The solar corona is the only spatially revolved corona we can observe. While the fundamental physical processes are believed to be similar, the coronae of other late-type stars span over 4 orders of magnitude in X-ray luminosity and an order of magnitude in temperature. In addition, highly active stellar coronae show different elemental composition than the solar corona. On the sun, coronal structures evolve on several time scales. In particular, the elemental abundances in individual coronal structure evolve on a time scale of days. I will present new results from the first X-ray spectral study of a stellar corona on a time scale of days.
