IPS Fellows 2020
Prof. David J Bergman, Tel Aviv University
Is elected as a fellow of the IPS for his decisive contributions to the theory of composite materials,
in particular their thermoelectric and elastic properties, and for his proposal for a device that amplifies
surface plasmons by stimulated emission of radiation--SPASER, which may become useful in nano-photonic circuits.
Prof. Avishai Dekel, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Is elected as a fellow of the IPS for his groundbreaking contributions to the theory of galaxy formation,
in particular to our understanding of the processes that determine the structure and the size distribution of galaxies
Prof. Tsevi Mazeh, Tel Aviv University
Is elected as a fellow of the IPS for his groundbreaking contributions to the study of extra-solar planets,
in particular for his decisive contributions to the algorithms and analysis methods that enable their detection
Prof. Moti Milgrom, Weizmann Institute of Science
Is elected as a fellow of the IPS for his groundbreaking contributions to theoretical astrophysics,
in particular for his suggested modification to Newtonian dynamics (MOND) that provides a predictive
alternative to the dark-matter explanation of the dynamics of galaxies.
Prof. Victor Steinberg, Weizmann Institute of Science
Is elected as a fellow of the IPS for his pioneering work in the study of driven non-linear dissipative systems.
Victor's work contributed deeply to our fundamental understanding of the formation and dynamics of patterns in nature.
Among his numerous contributions, his discovery of elastic turbulence established a new field in Physics.
