Structural transition is one of the most common phenomena related with increasing pressure and temperature. Pressure-induced amorphization (PIA), in which crystalline substances transform into amorphous state under pressure, is an interesting and not fully understood transition. In the lecture we would look into the mechanism of pressure-induced amorphization and present a new family of materials which are candidates to undergo PIA.
