ESR-STM is a single spin technique which detects current - current correlations in the Larmor frequency when tunneling above a single spin. Recently it was shown that the technique can observe hyperfine spectra. Due to the anisotropy, one of the most important applications of hyperfine spectroscopy is the sensitivity to dynamics, which opened many possibilities in spin labeling for studies of molecular dynamics relevant to many different fields including biochemistry and biophysics, studying dynamics of proteins and membranes.
