The superconductor-insulator transition (SIT) has been an ongoing theoretical problem since the early days of BCS theory.
Starting from a first-principles approach, we characterize 'conventional' superconducting order and present numerical results for its temperature dependence. We discuss implications on the role of the Kosterlitz-Thouless description of the SIT.
