MVA Methods for Tau Triggering in the Phase-I Upgrade of the ATLAS L1Calo

In the decay mode H to tau tau it is difficult to distinguish between measurements corresponding to true taus and jets with similar Pt. Tau classification utilizing MVA methods, and specifically BDT, is introduced. Running BDT on the data resulting from the Electromagnetic and Hadronic Calorimeter allows separation between signal and background to a high level of accuracy. MVA based tau classification will significantly increase the accuracy of the ATLAS tau trigger in run 3.
