Two Extreme Explosions of H-rich Stars

I will present observations of two extreme H-rich supernovae, which produced some of the highest ever recorded Ni masses for a Type IIP/L explosion. These supernovae reached high peak magnitudes of around -19 while also presenting "plateau'ish" light curves - making them outliers to the IIP / IIL brightness vs. decline rate relation. The spectra of these events show high expansion velocities at late times, reminiscent of the peculiar iPTF14hls explosion. These properties possibly point to an extreme explosion energy driving these rare events.
